Day 10: Nymphaeaceae

From Wikipedia:

Nymphaeaceae is a family of flowering plants. Members of this family are commonly called water lilies and live in freshwater areas in temperate and tropical climates around the world.

Another one of those things you don’t quite expect to see in Kansas right?

My sweetie loves to kayak, so in the time we have been here we have been exploring the local lakes. Imagine my surprise when we went kayaking at Longview Lake and stumbled (oared?) upon a beautiful water lily garden.  Just don’t ask Wes about the sacrificial dump in the water he took to get me close enough to snap this gorgeous shot!
