Where is the time going again?

I blinked and I missed January. Wasn’t it just New Years? How is it the end of the month already? I do have a few things to show for it.

I’m going for 13 pounds in 2013 and I’m off to a good start.

Spin #1 is a braid of Shetland from Lanitium Ex Machina in the colorway “Blueprint.” I don’t seem to have a picture of the braid before spinning so I’ll just show you the finished yarn:

Spin #2 was a beautiful braid of BFL from Wild Ivy Fibers in the colorway “Jeweled.”  For this fiber I tried a new technique, drafting the fiber in the fauxlags and spinning vaguely long draw.  My camera refuses to capture the depth of the blues, violets and purples.

Spin #3 was a braid of Merino/Tussah Silk from Ashland Bay Fibers in the colorway “Princess.”  I tried fauxlagging again, and was rewarded with a puffy light yarn.  I love this color because the slate looks charcoal grey in some lights and navy in others.

All three of these beauties are available in my shop!

So far I’ve finished two projects this year, my Roam tunic and my first pair of socks. Unfortunately I don’t have good photos of the tunic yet, but I do have a few of the socks.

This year I decided to knit 13 pairs of socks in 2013. My good friend K pointed out that this would be one pair of socks every 28 days. Well today is the 28th and I’m done with one pair, and started a new one at lunch so I appear to be on track!

Pair #1 of 2013: I got this yarn on my honeymoon over 4 years ago.  I don’t seem to have the tag, but it was a skein of superwash yarn dyed by a local dyer in Ketchikan.  I selected the Georgia on my Mind pattern by Leslie Thompson and called these socks Alaska on my Mind.
