Luiza

Ages ago I purchased a beautiful braid of fiber from JulieSpins:

I couldn’t decide what to do with this braid, but I eventually decided I’d spin it up as lofty singles. I love Julie’s oversized braids, and this one was a generous 5.5 ounces of merino/silk.

Once I had spun it up, I wasn’t sure what to knit with it and so it sat, and sat, and sat in my stash.

Around Christmas time this past year, a group on Ravelry did a random act of Christmas thread, and a pattern designer surprised me by sending me a copy of her pattern, Luiza, that I had long wanted to knit. I started it in some laceweight, but ended up ripping it out. On my second try, I decided that this yarn and this pattern were a match. Apparently they were because I raced right through this.

I just love the changes in color throughout:

The pattern is extremely well written, and the charts are wonderful.

As you can tell, I’m smitten.
